The Mission A Redemption of the Past has just been nominated for an EVVY award. This award goes to the best book of the year for a self published book. Wish me luck. Better yet go buy and enjoy it! It is available on amazon.com and Barnes and Noble.com. It is also available as a kindle edition. It would make a great Christmas gift.

Five star reviewThe Mission – A Redemption of the Past got my attention very quickly and held on to it (with the exception of a couple of slow parts) until the very end. I found the book was easy to read, entertaining, somewhat thought provoking, and extremely difficult to put down. Anyone interested in government conspiracies will enjoy this work of fiction. Several times I had to remind myself that it was a work of fiction. This book gets 5 STARS with no problem! Disclosure of Material Connection: I was given a review copy of this book by the author/publisher. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. sequel started

I have completed three chapters of the sequel to The Mission A Redemption of the Past. I am also 3 Chapters into another novel that is about the Martin family. Abe Martin makes a trip to Elsberry,Mo. to find information about a father who abandoned his family and finds out more than he expected. He winds up in a family feud and gets caught up in a treasure hunt where the treasure dates back to the Civil War and involves the Knights of the Golden Circle which was an organization that wanted to create a new country that would permit slavery. Still a fourth novel is on the drawing board. I love to write. Please check out the book and the video. I promise you that you will be entertained and enjoy the book. If any publishers are out there I still have not signed a contract yet, but you better hurry. Any honest agents are welcome to inquire, because I can tell you now this boy is going to make it big!

The future of publishing

We all know that their are tremendous changes occurring right now in the publishing world. This begs the question, Where are we going from here? The really truthful answer. It is like the stock market, no one knows for sure and if they tell you they do then they are either lying or fooling themselves. As a writer, I am very interested in the direction of publishing so I will tell you what I think. First a little History.
In the old model the publishers controlled the supply. They were the gate keepers that fed the people what they felt was the best of the best as far as authors and books were concerned. This in effect controlled the supply and just like the oil cartels of today the price. Just like any other cartel it won't last.
Those authors who were left by the wayside started to seek other means to reach the gatekeepers. Enter the agents. They had the contacts with the publishers and they would do the work necessary to get their clients published and the writers kept on writing. More writers were being published. A good thing? Still there were contracts to be signed and the publishers still controlled the supply. Then came technology and the internet.
In the old days it was nearly impossible to self publish because of the costs involved in printing and distribution. Now you have computers and the internet and books can be produced digitally and distributed on the internet which brings down the cost and increases the supply of books and readers because the costs will go down. Print on demand is now also available because of technology.
It is now possible for an author to self publish and sell on the internet eliminating the agent and for the most part the publisher. The result is that the supply side is moving toward infinity. In the absence of the cartel's (the Publishers) the consumer will dictate the future of publishing. In other words there will be a market for anything that sells and there will be some one or something to supply it.
So what does the future look Like? In the near term more advertising for the publishers to increase demand for their brands
(authors). You have already seen this in the increase in the amount of television and radio advertisements for books.
In the longer term I see a layered system. Their will be publishers because there will always be some demand for the printed book(physical copy)and authors who want nothing to do with publishing and will accept less money because of it. There will be a place for the print on demand people also, depending upon the technology and the cost and the same goes for electronic and
audio books.
As for the author I see something like the Minor and Major leagues in baseball where your skills and talent will take you as far as you can go. As for which layer is top, middle or bottom the consumer will decide. You may very well see a publisher who embraces all the aspects of the market or just one or two. Another possibility is niche players concentrating on only one segment. In either case the consumer (demand side) will define the market from now on. And that is my view. Agree? disagree? Let me know.

tomorrow's blog

Tomorrow I would like to discuss my personal view on the future of publishing.

Why did RFK takeover the CIA?

RFK was given the assignment by The president JFK because he no longer trusted the leadership of the CIA. They did not accomplish his goal of assassinating Cuban leader Fidel Castro and he thought their was a mole in the CIA because Castro seemed to know exactly when and where the attack on the Island would occur. Some even thought there was more than one mole. President Kennedy also entertained thoughts of dissolving the agency all together. Kennedy was also making plans to withdraw all troops and military advisers from Vietnam. The plans were, according to some, to be finalized after he returned from his trip to Texas.

A new question for you. Why did RFK take over the CIA after the Bay of Pigs fiasco?

Who did Johnson think killed Kennedy?

the answer to yesterday's question was Castro. Johnson always thought he had JFK murdered because the CIA tried to kill Castro at least 5 times and failed and only after Johnson took office did the attempts stop.

Do you want to know a secret?

President Johnson always thought their was a conspiracy in the assassination of President Kennedy. Can you name who he thought was behind the murder?

review for the book THE MISSION A Redemption of the Past by Larry Hunter

I want to give you my overall impression of your work: You have such a great writing style. It is always easy to tell when an author spends time with their writing. I have to say that it is obvious that you have done a significant amount planning and preparation in crafting your work. You add details that really add to the credibility of your writing. Right from the start your plot was very engaging. You do a nice job of slowly making your way through the story with details and a certain voice that allows your reader to really interact with the characters (who are all round and very nicely developed.) So many authors rush through their stories without really developing them. Not you. Your book read like a movie in my mind. You have crafted an excellent piece here.

Published

My new book has been published by Outskirts Press and the title is
THE MISSION A Redemption of the Past. It can be found by accessing the website http://outskirtspress.com/themission. You can also access my author site by following the link at the bottom of the page. This in turn offers a link to purchase the book at Outskirts press bookstore or leads you to Amazon.com or Barnes&Noble.com. A video is also on the page. You can leave a comment there which will be sent directly to my e-mail address for a quick reply.
This is my first effort at publishing and as a neophyte I have learned a great deal. The competition is keen and a massive effort is needed to get noticed. I believe my work will speak for itself.
I had a great deal of pleasure writing the book and am confident you will enjoy reading it just as much. Most of my time these days is involved in the marketing effort and my biggest challenge lately is finding the time to write.
I hope you will take the time to reply. I am sure there are plenty of reviewers and accomplished authors and readers out there who can give me advice and constructive criticism and comments. A complimentary copy of my book is available for reviewers upon request.
